Alopecia Barbae Case Study

Hair had never grown on certain areas of this man's face. It was assumed that this would always be the case and as the hair is dark, the "pink areas" show very clearly. As in this case, sometimes this is due to alopecia before puberty. Having had no hair on these patches for twenty five years, they recovered within a few months. A few little spots appears on the skin as the new hairs push through, but these cleared up very quickly. The technical point being that the individual didn't even know he had alopecia, because it was present before the beard grew and was contained to the face only.
